TOKYO — The four-woman pop group Max, known as former backup dancers to Japanese diva Namie Amuro, pledged to keep performing together even 10 years from now during a recent event.

The four members—Nana, Lina, Mina and Reina—took part in a preview of the film ‘‘Onnanoko Monogatari’’ (Your Story) depicting the lackluster life of a female ‘‘manga’’ comic artist and her recovery from a slump with the help of childhood memories with two of her friends.

‘‘The film encouraged me, as it made me recall our younger days,’’ group leader Nana, 33, said, referring to the time she and other Max members went to a dance school in Okinawa Prefecture before the group’s debut in 1995. Reina, 31, said, ‘‘I had a lump in my throat while watching (three girls) talking on the bank of a river at night in a scene as we talked to each other about ‘We should make this or that in the future’ at the time of our debut.’’
